Wendy Ying, DVM

I grew up riding hunters in MA with Pam Hunt.  While in college in California, I started foxhunting with Los Altos Hounds and have hunted with packs in NC, VA, Ireland and England.

In 1998, I bumped into R pleasure driving, Arab and Morgan judge Dede Bushneck, on the trail, which eventually led to driving lessons.   I started driving a single welsh cob pony in pleasure and combined driving.  I moved on to single and tandem horse with my irish draughts.

I moved to Florida in 2004 where Sterling Graburn and I ran Kingsforth Hall Training Center, a full service combined driving facility and sport cob breeding farm.

In 2005, Minyfford Megastar and I were named as the alternates for the USEF pony world championship team.

In 2006, our young horses, Duke and Dante blossomed.  As singles, they were hard to beat on marathon and Dante and I were named the 3rd alternate for the USEF singles team and were 6th in the HOY standings.  Duke and Dante were also competitive in the pairs and tandem divisions with me, a very green multiples driver.

Sterling and Dante were the 2008 USEF national single driving champions and Duke and I were the reserve champions.

I have also shown Duke and Dante at USDF training and 1st level under saddle with scores in the high 60s to low 70s.

In 2009 and 2010 I competed a 4 in hand of horses with the hopes of qualifying for the World Equestrian Games and was an active participant in the USEF team developing drivers clinics with German 4 in hand drivers, Peter Tischer and Michael Freund.  I did not make the cut for WEG but am looking forward to the 2011 USEF 4 in hand national championships.

In 2010, Sterling and I relocated to Gayla Driving Center in Georgetown, KY. Sterling is the head trainer and I have a mobile traditional chinese veterinary medicine practice called 5 Elements for Animals.

I graduated in 1995 from San Jose State University with BS in Molecular Biology and in 1999, earned my DVM from North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine.  In 2004, I became a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist.
